Standard II: Instructional Leadership
A. Focus on Learning and Teaching, Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment: The school executive leads the discussion about standards for curriculum, instruction and assessment based on research and best practices in order to establish and achieve high expectations for students.
Professional Development through Professional Learning Communities
The presentations below exhibit my ability to effectively facilitate learning through professional development and challenge staff to reflect deeply on and define what knowledge, skills, and concepts are essential to complete educational development of students.
I co-facilitated the below professional development with Shamika Neville for the staff of Mrs. Christina Williams-Debrow, NELA Cohort I Graduate. Strategies such as Everybody Writes and Beginning with the End in Mind were shared with staff.

I co-facilitated the below professional development with Andrea Dagnalan . HLTM is part of the school-wide instructional strategies implemented during for second semester of this school year. Staff were encouraged to select 3 out of the 8 to implement during their instruction. Walkthroughs and follow-up PD have also been conducted.
Reading Intervention Program
While presenting at the Battelle for Kids Conference 2016 in Ohio, I was awarded a free trial for a reading intervention program, MindPlay. During preparation for implementation many discussions took place concerning teaching, learning, curriculum, instruction, and assessment. As a result of this experience I can (know how to):
- facilitate the implementation of a new program or new initiative
- communicate staff expectations
- communicate to staff how to prepare
- facilitate discussion of implementation process
Walkthrough Document Tool: I helped to revise and create Walkthrough Template I for my first semester Principal Residency site. Walkthrough Template II was in place upon my arrival at my second semester Principal Residency site. I created an electronic copy to provide an alternative to paper and pencil. Upon submission of the walkthrough, it immediately creates a pdf document ready for email to teachers. This was quite helpful with time management and real-time feedback in addition to a valuable coaching tool. This shows that I am prepared to create documents, routines/procedures to monitor instruction and collect data to lead discussions about high expectations about teaching and learning.

Activity & Assessment Alignment PLC was co-facilitated to ensure that there was appropriate and logical alignment between the curriculum of the school and the district's focus: Unpacking the Standards. Through the collaboration and facilitation of this PD, I will be able to lead conversations about what instruction should look like, feel like, sound like, and always model the expectation and "inspect what is expected".
B. Focus on Instructional Time: The school executive creates processes and schedules which protect teachers from disruption of instructional or preparation time.
Intervention Block Lesson Template
To assist with maximizing instructional time during our intervention block, I developed the following template that was utilized to provide structure to our Intervention time, help teachers be more prepared and strategic in planning, and allow for more time on task for students. From this experience I know how to create, share, and implement change when necessary. As a result of this template, all staff were able to assist with pulling groups of students to work with. The classroom teacher was to complete and share the intervention lesson plan.
Holiday Schedule
During holidays, it is important to keep instruction as a priority. Below you will view an early release and a holiday schedule I created. The holiday schedule was created as a result of the collaboration of grade level chairs and the SIT Chairperson to make sure instruction was the focus and it allowed time for classes to enjoy holiday celebrations. I am able to make adjustments in the master schedule due to District PD and for the observance of holidays yet ensure instruction and student learning are the priority.
